Honestly? When we arrived in Tulum we wanted to leave immediately 🙈 It was loud and hectic and had nothing to do with the relaxing break that we had hoped for. However, since we couldn’t rebook on such short notice, we decided to stay and make the best of it. If you know a few things in advance, a stay in Tulum can be a great experience 😊
Excursion to Tulum Ruins and Cobá & the Choo-Ha Cenote
As beautiful as it was on the beaches of Mexico… after a few days I suddenly had the urge to immerse myself in some of the country’s culture and history. Where can you do that better than in one of the numerous Mayan ruins of the Yucatán Peninsula. We had already visited the most famous Mayan site Chichén Itzá 10 years ago, this time we were drawn to the jungle.
Isla Mujeres – the island of women
To be honest, Isla Mujeres was of little importance for my planned trip through Yucatán and yet, surprisingly, it became my Mexico highlight 😍
Saona Island – Paradise or Tourist Trap?
Exactly 13 years ago we experienced this excursion for the first time. At that time we were freshly in love, it was our very first vacation together and we saw the world through rose-colored glasses. I had so incredibly positive memories of this excursion and had made up my mind to repeat this island expedition.
Marinarium Punta Cana – Snorkeling with sharks
As you probably already know … Sven and I are more active vacationers. Therefore, even with an all-inclusive vacation, there are plenty of excursions on the program. Ziplining & Monkeyland, as well as Saona Island, we could already tick off. Now all that was missing was a snorkeling trip.
Anamuya Dschungel – Ziplining & Monkeyland
Just lying around and doing nothing is just not in our nature, so we were looking for a bit of variety during our all-inclusive stay in Punta Cana.
Neither of us had tried ziplining before and monkeys are always nice, right? 😍
Punta Cana – Travel during the pandemic
After a year of restrictions, we were pretty much fed up, as is probably the case with so many in the Covid-19 pandemic. For weeks the thermometer has only shown minus degrees. Frustrated that we weren’t even allowed to spend Christmas with our families because of the entry restrictions, plus we were completely overworked, our mood sank to zero at the beginning of February 😔 Our decision was made: We need a break !!!
Varadero – Caribbean paradise or mass tourism?
Varadero is probably not the most idyllic beach in Cuba, but it offers a lot of other advantages … a very good international flight connection, many great resort facilities with a private beach & Havana is only about 2 hours away by car.
Trinidad – a trip back in time
Although we have already got to know so many great places in this world, we will remember Trinidad as unique 😍 When you stroll through the streets of Trinidad, you have the feeling that time has stood still.
Valle de Viñales – on the trail of tobacco
Neither of us are smokers, but tobacco plays a major role in Cuba. Some even claim that the Cuban cigar is the best in the world 😉 Reason enough for us to take a day trip to the famous Valle de Viñales. At that time we had no idea that we would face the fear 🤣
