Mallorca – wedding with obstacles

Finally the time had come … For 2 years we had planned this day, or better said this weekend, down to the smallest detail and yet many things turned out differently than expected. An eye infection, a missing person and a short-term change of location … πŸ™„ and yet it was the best day of our life 😍

Actually, we only wanted to celebrate with the closest family members, as we did not assume that our friends would travel to Mallorca especially for the wedding. However, we had absolutely underestimated our friends. Therefore, a small, contemplative ceremony turned into a party with 40 guests 😊

We absolutely could not have managed the planning on our own, so we turned to a wedding planner on site. As luck would have it, Simone was also from Austria and absolutely the best choice for this job. Not only were we totally on the same wavelength, she was also absolutely professional and brilliantly fended off a mean disaster 2 days before the wedding – but I’ll get to that πŸ˜‰ (you can find more information about Simone below in our tips & recommendations).

So we sat on the plane to Mallorca 5 days before the wedding. Some of our guests also took advantage of the occasion and combined the event with a few days of vacation on Mallorca.

Already on the plane I noticed a strange scratching in my eye, I blamed it on my contact lenses and the dry air on the plane – well, that wasn’t the case. The next day I woke up with a red, swollen eye. Great!!! I immediately thought of wedding pictures with a bride who looked like Quasimodo. At the pharmacy I received special disinfectant wipes and an anti-inflammatory ointment. I had to go without contact lenses and makeup for the next few days and hoped that the inflammation will go away by the time I got married. However, I didn’t let my joy be spoiled and we had a few relaxing days with our loved ones on Mallorca 😊

We spent the night on the east coast of Mallorca in Cala Millor.

With our rented car we were flexible and took trips to the beaches in the area, such as Cala Torta in the northeast of Mallorca.

On the way home we made a detour to the medieval city of ArtΓ .

Another excursion took us to the south of the island, to Platja des Trenc, the longest natural beach in Mallorca.

A short visit to my stylist Tina in Palma was also on the agenda (you can find more information about her below our tips & recommendations). A new hair color and you feel like a completely new person πŸ˜‰

My eye infection got better every day and we were all in a great mood. At least until we received bad news from our wedding planner Simone 2 days before the wedding 😱

At our wedding location there were complaints from residents about the volume and we had to look for a new location for the party after dinner at short notice. How should that work 2 days before the event on a weekend in high season? To be honest, without Simone we would have been completely desperate.

I can’t tell you how happy I was about Simone. Even before we received the news, she had pulled out all the stops and 1) not only presented a solution, but 2) a much better one than the original one. The change of location was inevitable, but there was now no volume limit and no curfew. So the party could start 😊

The day before our wedding we had planned a get-together in the finca hotel Residencia Son Floriana. The weather was perfect, the atmosphere exuberant, and the food absolutely delicious. We had to be careful not to party too wildly, as the big day was still ahead πŸ˜‰

We managed to tear ourselves away in time and get up the next day with a clear head – not all guests were so successful πŸ˜‰

However, we needed the strength for what came next. Sven received a call from home, a good friend was reported missing. The situation was serious, even the police were already looking for him 😱 We were shocked and concerned. Fortunately, he was found intact a few hours later and we could breathe again.

Somehow the wedding was not a lucky star. It was just before noon, almost time for my stylist, mom and sister to arrive at my hotel room. However, Sven and I were still so overwhelmed that we absolutely needed a moment for us as a couple. We chatted about everything that had happened and all the hopscotch. After that we felt much better and looked forward to our big day.

The styling could begin. With the men it was of course a little more relaxed πŸ˜‰

Together with my photographer, I made my way to the location – Port Verd Del Mar. Once there, Sven was waiting for me and immediately hugged me. It was a great feeling, we had waited so long for this moment. We enjoyed a few more minutes before it got serious and our guests arrived. I watched through a window as Sven received the arriving guests. My sister was so nice and took my mind off my nervousness.

When my father finally came to me, I knew the time had come. I was totally nervous, but also happy that it finally started 😊

We couldn’t have imagined a more beautiful ceremony, we were overjoyed 😊

As you already know, culinary enjoyment is very important to us. We spent the next hours with our loved ones, with excellent food, delicious wine and lots of fun.

At the end we danced until we dropped. So the best day in our life together slowly came to an end. We’ll think back to it forever with a grin on our face 😊

However, we could look forward to one last item on the program … at least until the alarm clock rang at 3 a.m. – the after-wedding shooting at sunrise. However, I didn’t have much time to regret, after all, I had to put make-up on the dark circles, conjure up curls and throw my dress on again. The felt 1000 buttons on the back of the dress almost led to our first marriage argument πŸ˜‚

At 4:30 am we sat in our rental car and drove north to Cap Formentor. As soon as the sun slowly rose, all the hustle and bustle was forgotten and we enjoyed the shoot and the view.
