From an international perspective, Austria is probably less known for good wine. However, Sven & I are absolute fans of this area, as well as of the cuisine and the white wine from this region 😍
I even dare to say that it is my favorite region in Austria. There is nothing better than wandering through the vineyards for hours and taking short breaks for a snack or a wine tasting at the local winegrowers 😋
The Val d’Orcia was our absolute highlight on our Tuscany tour. There is only one thing we would do differently next time … never drive your own car when you are in such a great wine region ☹️🤣
Of course, the city of Florence should not be missing on a Tuscany tour. We spent 3 nights in the Tuscan capital and have summarized our “TOP 10” for you 😊
Why the comparison with Manhattan? Quite simply, the skyline of San Gimignano is characterized by medieval towers, there are a total of 13 gender towers. These were built by the noble families and were considered a kind of status symbol. “Whoever has the highest tower has the highest reputation” 😉
I could only vaguely remember Siena. When I was 15, I spent a few days in Tuscany with my school class. At that time, however, my interest in medieval cities was still very limited 😉 The only thing I remembered was the completely overpriced cappuccino at the Piazza del Campo 🤣
About 20 years later, however, this city has left a lasting impression. Not only because of its beauty and history, but also because we ate the best tiramisu there ever 😋
To be honest … we wouldn’t plan a beach holiday in Viareggio for several days. However, nothing speaks against a short stopover on the coast during a tour through Tuscany 😉
Of course, the city of Pisa, with its world-famous leaning tower, should not be missing on a tour of Tuscany. To be honest, I didn’t know much more than “the leaning tower” when I was planning this day trip 🤣
In my opinion, Lucca is completely wrongly overshadowed by better-known cities such as Florence or Pisa. The mostly car-free Lucca took my heart by storm.
This fantastically beautiful region should not be missing on a Italy tour. There would be enough program for a week, but we had the big problem of getting all the highlights into one day trip 😬🤣
To this day I find it fascinating how within Switzerland, in just 2 driving hours, the country & people as well as the language and cuisine can change completely. This summer we moved to the Italian part of Switzerland and yet we felt as if we were in Bella Italia 😍
