Bellinzona, the capital of Ticino, is known for its 3 castles and is one of the highlights of Italian-speaking Switzerland. The castles and city walls of Bellinzona have been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2000. Fans of the Middle Ages get their money’s worth here 😍
Rapperswil – the city of roses on Lake Zurich
Since we can call Switzerland our second home, we have fallen in love with this medieval town 😍 Whenever family and friends from Austria visit us, a day trip to Rapperswil-Jona is a must. Nobody has been disappointed yet 😉
Here I present you the TOP 6 things that you should do in Rapperswil.
Zermatt – an idyllic mountain village at the foot of the Matterhorn
Up to now, it has always been true for me that the further a travel destination, the more interesting it was. I only wanted to explore destinations that could be reached in a few driving hours when I was old and gray or as soon as I didn’t want to take such long journeys 😉
The Corona virus has thwarted us globetrotters in terms of long-distance travel, at least for the near future. However, I am overjoyed that the hotel industry was able to reopen and that we could at least go on holiday in the surrounding countries. Suddenly you realize how grateful we can be to live in such wonderful countries as Austria and Switzerland.
Luzern – a jewel on Lake Lucerne
Our 3rd wedding anniversary was just around the corner. Of course, this had to be celebrated in a special place. So we decided to go on a weekend trip to Lucerne. Kayla was of course allowed to accompany us 😉
For this occasion, we booked a suite in the Art Deco Hotel Montana with a jacuzzi on the terrace and a fantastic view of Lake Lucerne 😍
Varadero – Caribbean paradise or mass tourism?
Varadero is probably not the most idyllic beach in Cuba, but it offers a lot of other advantages … a very good international flight connection, many great resort facilities with a private beach & Havana is only about 2 hours away by car.
Trinidad – a trip back in time
Although we have already got to know so many great places in this world, we will remember Trinidad as unique 😍 When you stroll through the streets of Trinidad, you have the feeling that time has stood still.
Valle de Viñales – on the trail of tobacco
Neither of us are smokers, but tobacco plays a major role in Cuba. Some even claim that the Cuban cigar is the best in the world 😉 Reason enough for us to take a day trip to the famous Valle de Viñales. At that time we had no idea that we would face the fear 🤣
Havanna – Rum, cigars & salsa
Sven was lucky enough to have discovered Cuba in his childhood. He often told me about dancing and happy people in the park and music from every corner. That alone was enough to make Cuba pretty much at the top of my bucket list as a destination 😊
Blyde River Canyon – Road trip along the Panorama Route
The Panorama Route is probably not as well known as the Garden Route, but absolutely worth seeing 😍 After our safari in Sabi Sands, we decided to end our South Africa tour with 2 nights in White River… a good starting point for the Panorama Route – one of the most beautiful routes in South Africa.
Sabi Sand Game Reserve – on the trail of the Big Five
Everyone who goes on safari has one big goal – to see the Big Five. After doing some research, I found that the probability of meeting all 5 (elephant, rhino, buffalo, lion and leopard) on the very first safari is relatively low. Anyone who knows me better knows that this is not satisfactory for me and that I try to optimize the chances as much as possible 😉
