Hiking is one of our absolute favorite pastimes. In Austria the possibilities are endless … we could climb a different mountain every day. Every now and then, however, we are drawn to a hiking holiday in a foreign country – or rather to our Italian neighbors.
With Svens Cabrio we went south to Olang in South Tyrol. The “Bärenhotel” is located at an altitude of 1330 m, beautifully embedded in the middle of the Dolomites.
The next day, after a hearty breakfast, we did a mountain tour over the “Dreifingerscharte” to the Piz da Peres (2507 m) – walking time approx. 4 hours. We started right at the hotel.
In order to replenish our burned calories as quickly as possible, we let ourselves be pampered over dinner in the hotel 😊
The next morning we were awakened by the first rays of the sun. If you start the day like that, nothing can go wrong.
Today we wanted to go from Olang via route 20 to the “Brunstalm” and on to the “Kühwiesenkopf” / Franz-Josef Höhe (2140 m). From there the descent begins (still via path 20) to Lake Pragser Wildsee.
After a short cooling off in Lake Pragser Wildsee, we took the bus back to Olang.
With this our short vacation in South Tyrol came to an end. We will definitely come back and climb more peaks of the Dolomites.
Our personal opinion about South Tyrol:
- great region for hiking (for every level)
- fantastic panorama
- the South Tyrolean hospitality should be mentioned positively
- top hotels
