Although we have already got to know so many great places in this world, we will remember Trinidad as unique 😍 When you stroll through the streets of Trinidad, you have the feeling that time has stood still.
We stayed at the Iberostar Grand Hotel Trinidad. A great starting point for exploring, but the city is not too big and everything is easy to explore on foot.
We just strolled along and let the colorful houses and cobblestone streets affect us.
We found it somewhat irritating that we unconsciously had an insight into the private life of the residents of Trinidad 😲 Most of the time, the doors and windows were wide open, even if you didn’t really want to look in, you couldn’t avoid catching a glimpse. We saw Cubans cutting toenails 🙈 watching TV or playing cards. In any case, it didn’t seem to bother the residents, you could really feel their indifference and calm.
The Plaza Mayor is located in the center of Trinidad. During the day business people gather for a chat and in the evening the Cuban sounds from the Casa de la Música are listened to.

The best view of Trinidad is definitely from the church tower of the Convento de San Francisco de Asis. Admission costs just 1 CUC and you can enjoy a sensational all-round view of the city.

When the temperatures rose to almost 40 degrees in the afternoon, we really wanted to jump into cool water. A taxi took us to Playa Caribe, 20 minutes away. We chose this beach because there was a very well-rated restaurant there – the Grill Caribe. So we spent the afternoon with delicious seafood, splashing in the sea and cool cocktails 😋
Back in Trinidad we visited an amazing place, the Bistro Trinidad. This restaurant was recommended to us not only because of the delicious food, but also because of the nice roof terrace with a view. A visit is definitely worth it.

We ended the evening with a delicious cocktail with live music – here you are really spoiled for choice, music can be heard at every corner 😍

More tips & recommendations:
In my opinion there are no top highlights in Trinidad, the best way to get to know the city is to just go out and let the atmosphere and people work on you.
Well, that’s not entirely true … you have to go up to the church tower of the Convento de San Francisco de Asis, the best view of Trinidad awaits. Admission: 1 CUC
Depending on whether you want to spend part of the time on the beach, we recommend staying in Trinidad for 2-3 nights. The city is very manageable and can be explored on foot. We stayed 2 nights, but after that we were looking forward to discovering something new again.
And my last tip – please choose your shoes wisely !!! Trinidad is known for its cobblestone streets.
